These units are manufacturing more than 35000 rubber products, employing four hundred thousand people, which also includes 22000 technically qualified support personnel, contributing Rs. 40 billion to the National Exchequer through taxes, duties and other levies.
To support the rubber industry alone India has 1 Degree Colleges, 2 Diploma Courses, 3 Post Doctorate Research Institutions, 4 Research Institutions, 14 Testing Laboratories, 6 Certifying Institutions, graduating 400 fresh technicians every year.
The country has the highest number of technical personnel for the rubber industry in the world. Cost of labour in India is significantly lower than of US levels.
Railways, Defence, Space Research, Mining, Ports, Agriculture, Transport, Textile, Steel Plants and many other industrial sectors in India ar highly developed and generate a huge demand for rubber products. A billion strong population ensures a huge demand for consumer rubber products. All India rubber consumption has crossed the 1.1 million tones mark during the year 2006.
This has further helped in the radical and rapid growth of the Indian rubber industry. A sustained boom in the vehicle industry, over all industrialization further enhances the prospect of growth.
